MISSVIRGO79 asked:

I live in CA and owe almost $5,000 in traffic tickets and fines. My license was suspended and I REALLY need it back. If I file bankruptcy will it clear the fines off so I can get my license back?
I was told the only thing not removed was student loans. Is that correct?

The IRS publications just say you can deduct “sales tax paid on leased vehicles,” but doesn’t say how to calculate that. Does that mean to take the sum of the sales tax on all of the payments for the tax year, or figure out the sales tax on the amount that used used for calculating the lease? I am on a small retirement annuity of $900.00 a month. I think too much tax is being taken out of my check. I claim zero. $334.00 is withheld each month is Federal taxes and the same amount is withheld for state taxes which leaves me with about $232.00. Is this the right amount of taxes? Thank you for the help.

Our Home and School association has a tax exempt ID, yet we are not a non-profit organization. How is that possible? How would we have obtained tax exemption? No one in the organization seems to know. What criteria could be used for obtaining a tax exempt ID? And this isn’t as important right now, but how do you go about becoming a nonprofit organization? more

I made a mistake on my 2005 Federal taxes and had to pay about $1000 in 2007 on that 2005 tax year. Pretty sure I can’t deduct that on my Federal return, but can I deduct it on my state return?
